Privacy, by design.

Magnifind is built around a simple principle: your screenshots are yours, and they stay on your Mac. This policy explains, in plain terms, what the app does and does not do with your data.
The short version
- Magnifind does not collect personal information.
- There are no accounts and no sign-in.
- There is no analytics and no tracking of any kind.
- Your screenshots, their text, and their AI descriptions never leave your device.
Everything runs on your Mac
All processing is performed locally on your computer: text recognition (OCR), the on-device AI descriptions, indexing, duplicate detection, and search. Magnifind has no backend servers and never uploads your screenshots or their contents anywhere.
What Magnifind stores, and where
To make search fast, Magnifind reads the screenshot folders you choose and builds a local index including recognized text, generated descriptions, and thumbnails. This data is stored only on your Mac (in the app’s Application Support folder) and is used solely to power search and organization inside the app. Removing the app removes this local index; your original screenshot files are never modified or deleted unless you explicitly choose to delete them from within Magnifind.
Network activity
The only time Magnifind connects to the internet is to check for app updates. To do
this it fetches an update feed (appcast.xml) hosted on
magnifind.app. Like any web request, this involves standard technical
information such as your IP address and the app version, handled by the hosting/CDN
provider. It does not include any of your screenshots, their contents,
or any personal data. You can disable automatic update checks in the app’s settings.
No third-party data sharing
Because nothing is collected or uploaded, there is nothing to sell, share, or hand to advertisers or data brokers. Magnifind contains no third-party analytics or advertising SDKs.
Children’s privacy
Magnifind does not collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new “last updated” date.
